You start at Panjim Church and move through the city by air-conditioned sedan or SUV, stopping at the landmarks that shaped Goa's identity. The guide—trained and fluent in English and Hindi—walks you through the architecture itself: the Baroque and Renaissance styles that Portuguese and Italian architects brought to Old Goa, the red-brick Basilica of Bom Jesus with its grand Corinthian columns, the Sé Cathedral (said to be Asia's largest church), and the Church of St. Francis of Assisi with its frescoes and wood paintings. These are UNESCO World Heritage sites, and the guide explains what you're standing in front of, not just the dates.

The route takes in the Fontainhas neighbourhood with its Portuguese-influenced character, the Maruti Temple perched on Altinho hillock, and the Statue of Jesus overlooking the Mandovi River. Fort Aguada—the well-preserved 17th-century Portuguese fort—sits at the end of the day; it's also the backdrop for Bollywood shoots, and the lighthouse there offers views across the water.
