Walk the restored streets where Leh's past still echoes in the stone

A three-hour guided heritage walk through Leh's Old Town, starting at Chutey Rantag and moving through Baker's Street, the Central Asian Museum, the Leh gate, and the restored Old Town before ending with a full tour of the centuries-old Leh Palace. A live guide in English or Hindi leads the route through the main settlement that once sat below the palace, tracing the layers of Ladakh's history in the streets themselves.

The experience

The walk begins at Chutey Rantag and moves through the heart of Leh's ancient settlement, the part of the city that held the main population before the palace rose above it. Over the years the Old Town has been restored extensively, and the streets themselves carry the stories: the layout, the buildings, the way the neighborhoods connect. You'll pass through Baker's Street, stop at the Central Asian Museum to see what trade and settlement left behind, and move through the Leh gate into the Old Town proper, where the restoration work has kept the historical character intact.

The route ends with a full tour of Leh Palace, the centuries-old structure that overlooks the town. The guide walks you through the palace itself, explaining how it sits above the settlement you've just walked through and how the two (the palace and the town below) shaped each other over time. The whole experience takes three hours, and public transportation options are available nearby if you need to reach the starting point.

What’s included
