Day 6: Departure from Leh

The experience

The tour starts with airport pickup and a half day to rest at the hotel in Leh, then moves into full sightseeing on day two: the Confluence of Indus and Zanskar rivers at Nimoo, Leh Palace, Thiksey Monastery, the Hall of Fame museum, and Shanti Stupa at sunset. Day three is the drive to Nubra Valley across Khardungla Pass, followed by a camel safari through the Hunder Sand Dunes and a visit to Diskit Monastery, where a giant Maitreya Buddha statue overlooks the Shayok Valley. You stay overnight in Nubra.

Day four crosses Shayok Valley toward Pangong Lake, arriving by afternoon. The lake is roughly 4 to 5 kilometers wide and over 135 kilometers long, with about two-thirds lying beyond the Indo-China border. You'll spend the night at a camp on the lake's shore. On day five, wake early for sunrise at Pangong, then explore a nearby village to see local life before the drive back to Leh via Changla Pass. The return route includes stops at Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace, and a traditional Ladakhi lunch in Stok. Day six is the transfer to the airport.

Private transport, all accommodation, airport pickup and drop, the Innerline Border Permit and Environmental Fee are included. A traditional Ladakhi lunch is part of day five. The tour runs best between April and October. A guide can be added on request. The operator will confirm the cost at booking.
