The experience

The afternoon starts with pickup from your hotel in Jaisalmer, then a jeep carries you an hour into the desert. Once you reach the dunes, you transfer to a camel for the longer stretch (ninety minutes to two hours depending on the route), moving deeper into the landscape as the light begins to shift. The pace is unhurried. This is not a rushed crossing but a deliberate passage through the sand.

As the sun approaches the horizon, you stop to settle in. Tea and coffee arrive with light snacks while you watch the sky change color. The campfire is lit once darkness falls, and that is where dinner happens: a full meal prepared on-site, with your choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian dishes. Bottled water is provided throughout. After eating, you stay by the fire to watch the stars emerge across the open sky before the jeep returns you to the city.
