The Experience
Ram Bagh Bazaar is where the walking begins. Your guide will lead you through narrow lanes lined with grocery shops selling food grains, cooking oils and local products, then down to the seasonal vegetable stalls and the rows of pickle vendors that line the market. You'll pass a Sikh Temple and visit some Akharas—resting places for spiritual ascetics—before reaching the Chuda Bazaar, where brides shop for red and white bridal bracelets.
From there, the route takes you past the Baba Bohar, a centuries-old sacred banyan tree that grows in the middle of the Old City's narrow streets. The Thakurdwara Dariana Mal area comes next, with its ornate carvings based on Hindu mythology and shrines to Lord Krishna. When the walking section ends, you'll board a rickshaw to move through the market and exit the bazaar area before returning to your hotel.
The tour includes a private air-conditioned vehicle for pickup and return, so you're not navigating the city on your own. Light snacks and two bottles of mineral water per person are provided. Dress code applies inside temple complexes—shoulders, chest, navel and upper arms must be covered, and lower wear must reach at least below the knee. Footwear comes off at temple entrances, though socks are fine. The street food you'll encounter is freshly cooked by vendors with good local reputations, though it does not meet national or international hygiene standards.
