The experience

The trek starts in McLeodganj, the seat of the Dalai Lama, and climbs through Dhramkot village and past Galu Devi shrine to reach Triund. From there the trail passes through Laka meadow, scattered with boulders, and arrives at Lahesh Cave. Each night you sleep in a tent at the camp. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea or coffee come with the trek.

The final day's ascent to Indrahar Pass follows the rocks straight up the north-east face of the ridge, with the steep wall of Mon rising to the right. The trail crests and descends through several ascents, revealing views of the Kangra Valley and Dharamshala town below on the approach days. The pass itself sits at the border between Kangra and Chamba districts and marks the high point of the route.
