The trek starts in Dharamkot, a half-hour walk from Mcleodganj's main market. Two routes lead up (one through Galu Devi Temple, the other past Bhagsu waterfall), and the operator takes the temple route. The trail climbs 9 km through forest, a 4-5 hour push that stays easy to moderate even for beginners. Tea and snacks are sold at points along the way, and you reach the Triund campsite by evening with time to watch the sunset before dinner.

You sleep in a tent at 2,850 meters, surrounded by the Dhauladhar Ranges. The morning brings breakfast at the campsite, then a descent of 8 km back to Dharamkot by evening. The trek is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or during pregnancy.
