Step-by-step itinerary

Sailing and swimming in Cyclades

  • Snorkel at WWII plane wreck in Alimia
  • Swim at Agrilos bay beach in Ofidousa
  • Discover Rina bay cave in Naxos

The experience

The boat departs from Piso Livadi and heads first to Iraklia, where you'll snorkel around the sunken WWII hydroplane at Alimia bay: the centerpiece of the day. From there you sail to Schinoussa for swimming in the clear water around this small island, then continue to the southern side of Naxos to explore Rina bay's cave before a final swim. Lunch arrives on board partway through, with fresh local dishes and Greek wine, beer and soft drinks included.

The route connects three islands in a single day, stopping only at places the boat can reach. You bring nothing except a towel and sunscreen. Snorkeling equipment is provided and fitted to your size. The group stays under ten people, which keeps the boat maneuverable and the stops from feeling crowded. The full day runs about ten hours from departure to return.

What’s included

  • Snorkeling equipment.
  • local white wine, beer, still water and cola.
  • lunch on board with stuffed vine leaves, fish fillet, aubergine salad, pasta tuna salad, Greek salad and fruit dessert.

Is this one for you? This is a shared boat with a maximum of ten people, so you're snorkeling in a small group rather than alone or on a large tour. That size keeps the stops from feeling crowded and lets the boat access the smaller bays that bigger vessels can't reach, which is what makes the WWII wreck and the cave stops possible.

What's actually inside the WWII wreck at Alimia that I'll see while snorkeling?

The sunken hydroplane sits in Alimia bay in Iraklia, and you snorkel around its structure in the water. The wreck is the main snorkeling stop of the day and the reason many travelers choose this route over other Cyclades boat trips.

Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear or is it provided?

Snorkeling equipment is included and provided on the boat. Bring a towel and sunscreen. Everything else for the water is supplied and fitted to you.

How much time do we actually spend in the water versus sailing between islands?

The trip is structured around multiple swimming and snorkeling stops at different islands rather than one long sail. You'll have time to snorkel at Alimia, swim at Schinoussa, and explore Rina bay's cave in Naxos, with sailing between each stop.

Is the lunch included in the price, and what kind of food is it?

Lunch is served on board and includes stuffed vine leaves, small fish fillet, aubergine salad, pasta tuna salad, Greek salad and fruit dessert, along with local white wine, beer, still water and cola.

What time does the boat leave and when do we get back to Piso Livadi?

The full day runs approximately ten hours from departure at Piso Livadi to return. Exact departure and return times depend on the specific date. Confirm these when you book.

Can I do this trip if I'm not a strong swimmer or have never snorkeled before?

The trip is suitable for all physical fitness levels. The snorkeling stops are in calm, sheltered bays, and equipment is provided. If you've never snorkeled, the crew can show you how to use the gear before entering the water.
