Steer a luxury yacht, navigate the Aegean, and anchor at three hidden stops

A full-day private sailing class aboard the luxury yacht Annabella departing from Naxos, where Captain George Fragiskos—with over 40 years of Mediterranean experience—teaches you steering, instrument navigation and sail trimming while the boat moves through the Cyclades to Blue Lagoon, Holed Cave and Piso Livadi. The itinerary stays flexible around your group's pace, and a maximum of 13 people keeps the deck uncrowded.

8h

Step-by-step itinerary

Private full-day sailing cruise

  • Set sail from Naxos on yacht Annabella
  • Learn sailing from Captain George
  • Swim in Blue Lagoon's clear waters
  • Explore hidden sea caves and beaches
  • Relax on sun deck and snorkel
  • Visit Piso Livadi fishing village
  • Enjoy free time and local cuisine
  • Receive complimentary drinks and snacks

The Experience

The yacht Annabella leaves Naxos with Captain George at the helm and you learning his trade. Over the course of the day, he walks you through the mechanics of steering a luxury yacht, reading the instruments and trimming the sails—hands-on work, not observation. You'll move through the water under instruction, stopping at the Blue Lagoon to swim in water clear enough to see the seabed, then at Holed Cave and the fishing village of Piso Livadi, where you can spend time ashore and eat at a local taverna if you choose. The schedule bends to your group; there's no fixed timetable forcing you past a stop before you're ready to leave it.

What's aboard matters: snorkeling equipment, local organic wine from Naxos, seasonal fruit, homemade donuts with Naxos cheese, raki and water. Captain George provides live commentary on the water and the islands as you sail, and the boat carries a maximum of 13 people, so the sun deck doesn't crowd. The Cedar Forest of Alyko is visible from the water. Lunch isn't included, but Piso Livadi's tavernas are there when you want to eat.

Captain George speaks English, Italian, German, Greek and one additional language. The boat operates in all weather—dress for the conditions you'll meet. Cruise ship passengers need to provide their ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time at booking so the timing works around your port call.

Is this one for you?Book this if your group is under 13 and you want to learn an actual skill—steering and navigating a real yacht—rather than ride along as passengers. The private boat and Captain George's four decades of experience mean you're getting hands-on instruction, not a tour with a sailing backdrop.

Top questions

What will I actually learn to do on this sailing cruise?

Captain George teaches you steering the yacht, reading the navigation instruments and trimming the sails—you're handling the boat under his instruction, not watching a demonstration. The lessons happen as you sail between the stops, so the learning and the movement are the same thing.

How much experience do I need to start learning to sail?

No prior sailing experience is required. Captain George has over 40 years of Mediterranean sailing behind him and teaches from the beginning; the class is built for people picking up the skill for the first time.

What happens at Blue Lagoon and the other stops?

Blue Lagoon is a swimming stop in water clear enough to see down; you can snorkel there with the equipment aboard. Holed Cave is a sea cave accessible only by boat. Piso Livadi is a working fishing village where you can spend free time ashore and eat at a local taverna—the schedule doesn't rush you past any of them.

Can I bring a group, or is this for individuals?

This is a private cruise for your group only, with a maximum of 13 people per booking. Larger groups up to 20 are possible at extra cost; ask when you book.

What's included in the price, and what do I need to bring?

Sailing lessons, snorkeling equipment, local organic wine and raki from Naxos, bottled water, seasonal fruit, homemade donuts with Naxos cheese and live commentary are all included. Lunch is not included, but you can eat at Piso Livadi's tavernas during the free time there. Bring sunscreen, a hat and a towel; the boat operates in all weather, so dress for the conditions.

How long is the full-day cruise, and what time does it start?

The cruise runs for 8 hours. Departure time from Naxos is arranged at booking based on your schedule and any ship arrival times if you're a cruise passenger.
