The experience

Start inside a workshop with a cup of traditional Greek coffee and homemade spoon sweet, then move to a honey tasting from a local producer who explains the craft. You'll visit a small shop that sells only Naxian dairy products: taste fresh cheese and creamy yogurt while learning the stories behind them. The walk takes you through the charming alleys of the Venetian Castle, where you stop for a local sweet treat at a tucked-away spot before moving on.

The morning ends at a traditional taverna where locals gather. You'll sip Naxos' signature liqueur, kitron, and finish with ouzo and fish meze: the Greek way to end a meal. The whole thing runs three hours, which keeps the pace unhurried and gives you time to actually taste and talk with your guide instead of rushing between stops.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English and Greek.

What exactly is Naxian cheese like?

Naxian cheese is fresh and creamy, often drizzled with honey to bring out its mild, slightly tangy flavor. You'll taste it straight from a traditional dairy shop that specializes only in local products, so you're getting it the way islanders buy it themselves.

Is three hours enough time to actually enjoy the food and drinks?

Yes, the three-hour window is built around tasting and lingering, not rushing. You move between five or six stops, but each one gives you time to eat, drink and absorb what you're experiencing rather than just passing through.

What's kitron, and is it strong?

Kitron is Naxos' signature liqueur, made from citrus leaves and herbs. You'll taste it as part of the experience, and it's sipped in small amounts the way locals drink it, not a full glass, so it pairs with the food rather than overwhelming it.

What happens at the taverna at the end?

The taverna is a traditional spot where locals actually gather, not a tourist setup. You'll have ouzo and fish meze (small plates of seafood prepared the Greek way), and sit among people who live on the island, which is the whole point of the morning.
