The Experience
The dive shop sits right on Agios Prokopios beach, and when you walk in, the owner — a PADI instructor who's been running Blue Fin Divers since 2006 — will ask you one question: have you ever breathed underwater before? If the answer is no, the Discover Scuba Diving program is exactly what comes next. The whole thing takes about two hours, and it starts on land with a 35-minute briefing where a certified professional walks you through the basics: how the equipment works, what to expect when you descend, how to clear your mask if water gets in. It's straightforward stuff, delivered in a way that makes sense even if you've never thought about diving before.
After the briefing, you suit up — the shop provides all the gear — and walk into the water right in front of the shop. The reef sits in shallow water with almost no current and visibility that stays clear most days. You'll practice breathing at the surface first, do a few easy skills in the shallows, and then your instructor leads you down to about 7 meters for a 45-minute dive. The house reef is rocky and interesting without being overwhelming: Mediterranean fish move through the water in small schools, colorful sponges cling to the rocks, and if you're patient and quiet, you might see an octopus tucked into a crevice or even a sea turtle drifting past. The water is calm enough that you can focus on what's happening around you instead of fighting the environment.
The whole operation is built around first-timers. The group stays small, the instructors speak multiple languages, and they've chosen this particular reef specifically because it's easy to navigate and genuinely interesting to look at. You get the photos and videos of your dive included in the price, so you have something to show people who ask what it felt like down there. By the time you surface, you'll know whether diving is something you want to do again — and if it is, you'll have the foundation to move into a certified course.
What’s included
Your day includes all scuba diving equipment (wetsuit, tank, regulator, mask, fins, buoyancy control device), a 35-minute classroom briefing with a PADI-certified instructor, a 45-minute guided dive on the house reef to 7 meters, and professional photos and videos of your underwater experience.
Operated by Blue Fin Divers Naxos Greece
Is this one for you?Book this if you want to try scuba diving without committing to a full certification course, and you'd rather learn in a calm, shallow reef where you can focus on the experience instead of fighting conditions. The two-hour format and small-group instruction mean you're not rushed, and the house reef's lack of currents keeps the learning curve manageable.

Do I need to be certified to do the Discover Scuba Diving program?
No. The program is designed for beginners and non-certified divers. You'll learn everything you need during the briefing before you enter the water.
How deep do you go on the Discover Scuba dive?
You dive to about 7 meters (roughly 23 feet) on the house reef. The shallow depth and calm conditions make it safe and manageable for first-timers.
What's included in the price?
All scuba equipment, the instructor's guidance, and photos and videos of your dive are included.
How long does the whole experience take?
About two hours total: 35 minutes of briefing on land, then the dive itself and time to suit up and get comfortable in the water.
What will I see underwater?
The reef is home to Mediterranean fish, colorful sponges, octopus, barracuda, and occasionally sea turtles. Visibility is usually clear.
Is the reef right at the shop?
Yes. The house reef is located directly in front of the shop at Agios Prokopios beach, so there's no boat ride or long swim to reach the dive site.
What if I'm nervous about breathing underwater?
The briefing covers everything step by step, and your instructor stays with you the entire time. You'll practice breathing at the surface before descending, so you can get comfortable with the equipment gradually.
Are there any health conditions that would prevent me from diving?
The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health. If you have any health concerns, contact the shop before booking so they can advise whether a doctor's clearance is needed.
