The experience

You start at Kalantos Beach in the morning, where your guide briefs you on sea kayak handling before you push off eastward. The paddle follows the Cycladic coastline at a relaxed pace, passing hidden sea caves and rock formations carved into the cliffs. The water stays shallow and clear enough that you can see the seabed as you move, and the route keeps you away from the crowds that gather on the main beaches.

Rina Cave sits in a pristine bay near Kalandos in the southern part of the island. The cave's roof is studded with stalactites where birds and bats nest, and a freshwater spring flows from the rock face into the sea. You can taste the difference in the water if you dive down. The adjacent bay is your main stop: you beach the kayaks, swim, snorkel in the turquoise water, and spend time exploring the cave entrance from the water. The guide points out the geology and the wildlife, but most of the time here is yours to move at your own pace.

Lunch happens on a remote beach later in the afternoon: a spread of homemade Naxian specialties made with local ingredients, served with Greek coffee by the water.
