You walk past neoclassical mansions with Venetian balconies, stop at the Cathedral and the square of Saint Spyridon (where the first Governor of Greece was murdered), and move through Syntagma Square, the heart of the city, where the Archaeological Museum and the Vouleftikon (the first parliament building of the free Greek state) stand alongside the Old Mosque.

The route then climbs to Akronafplia, the fortress perched on the rocky peninsula above the harbor, where the panoramic view opens across the Peloponnese. From there you descend to the old port to see the Bourtzi, the Venetian fortress built on the island of Agioi Theodoroi: the landmark that defines Nafplio's skyline. A local guide walks the whole route with you, pointing out traces of Frankish, Venetian and Ottoman rule written into the city's architecture. The tour ends back at your starting point.

The 90-minute pace means you cover the essential Nafplio without eating your whole morning or afternoon. Weather does not stop the tour.
