The experience

The boat leaves Kos in the morning and heads north to Pserimos, a 130-person island where the first stop is a swim in the shallows and lunch at one of the tavernas right on the beach: the kind of place that serves the catch fresh and keeps the pace slow. You get an hour there to eat, wade and sit, then the boat moves on to Vathi, a village tucked into a natural fjord on Kalymnos. The engines cut and the water goes still enough that you can see the sandy bottom through turquoise. An hour on foot takes you up the quiet streets where locals sell homemade orange juice and sweets. The boat waits while you walk and photograph the gulfs and caves the fjord reveals as you climb.

The third stop is Plati, a small island between Kos and Kalymnos where the boat anchors close enough to jump straight in. The water is so clear you can watch the sand shift below you as you swim. Snorkeling gear is on board (included, not rented), so you can drop in and stay under as long as you want. The boat stays anchored here, and you can order cocktails at low prices while others are still in the water. An 8-hour day means you leave early and return by late afternoon, with time to shower before dinner.

Pickup from your hotel is optional: you can add it at checkout if you need it, or make your own way to the dock. The boat has a restroom, WiFi, and an air-conditioned cabin if the sun gets too much.
