The experience
The tour starts with a pickup from your hotel and heads to Sarris Winery in Svoronata, in the southwest corner of the island near Avithos beach. There you taste across their range (Robola to white, rosé and red), and learn how they make each one. Mezes and Greek snacks come with the tasting, so you're not drinking on an empty stomach. The winemakers are there to answer questions about their traditions and what sets their wines apart.
The second stop is the Kefalonian Robola Wine Cooperative, built in 1982 by dozens of winemakers from Omala and the surrounding villages to protect and promote the region's vineyard. This is the heart of where Robola grows, and it's where you see how the cooperative model works to support the local producers. The final stop is Gentilini Winery near the airport at Minies, founded by Spiro Kosmetatos and named after his grandmother Marianna. Here the range is wider (Robola, Notes, red, rosé and white wines) all paired with mezedes like olives, feta cheese and other Greek food. The winemakers talk about their history and their connection to the island, and you get a sense of how wine brings people together in these communities.
You can book this as a private tour or semi-private, depending on your preference. A qualified driver handles the route between stops so you can focus on the tastings and the conversations. The whole experience runs four to five hours, which leaves the rest of your day open.

What is Robola wine and why is it famous from Kefalonia?
Robola is the signature white wine of Kefalonia, grown in the Omala zone and surrounding villages in the island's interior. Yes. Mezes and Greek snacks come at Sarris, and at Gentilini the wines are paired with mezedes including olives, feta cheese and other Greek food. These are included in the tour price.
