The Experience

The water here is not what you expect from Greece. You pull up to the boat moored in the marina and the captain is already there, and then you see it — the bay stretches out in front of you in this impossible shade of turquoise, so clear you can see the bottom from the deck. Karydi Beach comes first, one of the most famous stops on the Vourvourou cruise, and it's shallow enough that you can wade out forever without the water getting deeper. The boat moves slowly between stops, and there's no rush to it. Complimentary drinks and fresh fruit appear on deck, and people settle in to swim or just float and stare at the limestone cliffs rising up from the water.

Robinson's Beach is further south, tucked into a bay that's only reachable by sea — blue and green water, no road access, no crowds. Then the captain turns the boat toward Diaporos, the largest island in the bay, and that's where things get quieter. The Blue Lagoon sits between two islands and the water changes color again, this time to something almost unreal. If you brought a snorkel, this is where you use it. The visibility is good enough that diving here feels less like a sport and more like floating through an aquarium. White Beach comes next, with actual white sand and shallow turquoise water, the kind of place that looks photoshopped until you're standing in it.

Kryfto Bay is the last major stop — a 700-meter-long narrow bay on the east side of Diaporos, completely protected and calm enough that the water barely moves. By afternoon, you've swum at four or five different beaches, each one different from the last, and the boat circles back toward Peristeri Island on the return. If you want lunch, the captain can arrange a stop at a beach tavern, though it's not included in the base price. The whole day runs from morning until late afternoon, and the boat is moored sideways in the marina, so boarding is straightforward — no scrambling up a ladder or waiting for a tender.
