Learn to cook Greek food while the Acropolis lights up across the balcony

A three-hour interactive Greek food tasting in a private Athenian home overlooking the Acropolis, where a professional chef walks you through authentic dishes, their regional origins, and the ingredients that define Greek cuisine. You sample ten courses from a signature ouzo cocktail through moussaka and halvas, then take home the recipes to recreate them yourself. Small groups only. Children welcome from age six.

The experience

The experience unfolds in a 7th-floor private residence with a 180-degree view of the Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill. You arrive as a guest, not a diner at a restaurant. The distinction matters because this is a licensed food production workshop hosted in someone's home, and the chef treats it that way. A signature ouzo cocktail with a modern twist arrives first, paired with Greek dips and homemade pitta bread, setting the tone for what comes next.

Then the tasting begins. You move through ten dishes in sequence: Greek salad with feta and extra virgin olive oil, dakos (Greek-style bruschetta on barley rusk), Santorini fava (yellow split pea purée with lemon and capers), spinach pie or marathopita depending on what the season offers, grilled talagani goat cheese with spearmint, spetzofai sausages in tomato sauce, moussaka, yemista (stuffed vegetables with rice), and halvas semolina pudding with orange and cinnamon. Between each course, the chef explains where the dish comes from, which Greek region claims it, what makes the ingredients matter, and the cultural story woven into the recipe. Fine local wine accompanies the meal. This is not a performance. It is a conversation about food, and you are part of it.

Before you leave, you receive printed recipes for everything you tasted. The point is not just to eat. It is to carry the knowledge home and cook it yourself. The group stays small, and the English-speaking guide shapes the pace around the people in the room. All beverages and dinner are included. The three hours are yours to linger, ask, and absorb.
