The experience
You start early at the Astrolavos tavern in the middle of Farsa, then walk uphill through the old village for about an hour to reach Mussia, where the dance instruction takes place. The walk happens at sunrise, so you see the buildings and streets as they catch the first light, and your guide explains the cultural history of the area as you climb. The trail is moderate. Nothing steep or technical, but steady enough that you'll want sports shoes and casual clothes you can move in.
Once you arrive in Mussia, you spend about an hour learning traditional Greek dances with a professional choreographer and teacher named Maria. The instruction is accompanied by Greek music, and the dances themselves carry centuries of regional tradition: each part of Greece developed its own style, and these steps have been passed down since ancient times. You're not watching a performance. You're learning the movements yourself, so the hour is active and hands-on.
After the dance session, you walk back down to the starting point, taking another hour on the same trail. When you arrive, you're offered traditional Greek drinks and meze, small plates of local food, so you can rest and taste what the region makes. The whole experience, from meeting point to finish, takes roughly two hours. The guide speaks English, Swedish or Greek depending on the group.

Is this one for you? You're learning the dances yourself rather than watching a performance, so the experience works best if you're comfortable being active for an hour and walking moderate trails both ways. The early start and sunrise timing mean you'll finish by late morning, leaving the rest of your day free, and the small-group format with a professional guide means you get real instruction, not just a casual introduction.
