The experience

The boat leaves Kos carrying up to 80 passengers on an 80-foot wooden vessel built for the route. You get a shaded oasis on deck, plush sundecks for sunbathing, and a modern bar where you can order drinks (not included in the fare). As you sail through the Dodecanese, the crew watches for dolphins that frequently appear alongside the boat. An audio guide in English, Italian, French or German narrates the route.

Your first stop is Vathy, the port town on Kalymnos. You jump in for a morning swim in the harbor, then walk the town at your own pace. It's small enough to cover in an hour.
