The experience

The boat leaves Tsilivi fishing port early, when the fish are most active. You'll board a speed boat with your captain and head toward the Alykes deep waters off Zakynthos's east coast. The captain sets up your fishing equipment (hooks and bait selected for the local species), and walks you through the technique. This is not a spectator activity: you're holding the line, feeling the pull, learning to read the water the way he does.

After roughly two hours of fishing, you'll have caught fresh local fish. The captain knows the waters and knows which restaurants will clean and cook your catch the same day: that part is your choice and your cost, but it's the point of the whole thing. You eat what you brought in, prepared simply the traditional Greek way. If the morning's fishing leaves time, your captain can take you to the blue caves at the end of the activity, adding another stop to the day without rushing the catch.

The speed boat and all fishing gear are included. The captain speaks English and will spend the morning teaching you, not just ferrying you out. Pickup is included in the shared option. Bring layers. The water is cooler than the air, and you're on the boat for hours.
