Quad Safari Crete: Ride Mountain Villages & Coastal Routes
Ride mountain terrain, walk through an almost-abandoned village, then drive the beach at Fodele
A quad safari in Crete where you ride an ATV through mountainous terrain and lush valleys, stopping to walk through a historic village and visit the birthplace of El Greco, then drive alongside a quiet beach. The guide leads you to viewpoints inaccessible by car and provides a driving lesson before you start. Duration is 3.5 hours; helmet, fuel, action photos and videos are included.
Step-by-step itinerary
Quad Safari and Village Exploration
- Ride ATV through mountainous terrain
- Visit and walk through abandoned village
- Explore village of El Greco and drink orange juice
- Drive ATV along Fodele beach
The Experience
You start with a driving lesson and safety briefing, then ride the ATV yourself through Crete's rugged mountain routes and green valleys. The guide leads you to vantage points built into the terrain, places you cannot reach on foot or by regular vehicle. Along the way you'll encounter obstacles and narrow passages that test your handling of the quad, but the routes are established and the guide stays with you throughout.
The first stop is an almost-abandoned mountainous village where you dismount and walk the streets with the guide, who explains the history and points out the most photogenic spots. The second village is known for fresh-squeezed orange juice and is the birthplace of Dominikos Theotokopoulos, the Renaissance painter known as El Greco—you can walk where he walked and see his childhood home, or sit by the river with a cold drink if you prefer to rest. Then you ride the ATV down to Fodele beach, driving alongside the quiet shore with the ocean and rolling waves just steps away.
The guide speaks English, French or Greek depending on your preference. Action videos and photos are captured during the ride and included with your booking. You'll need a valid car driving license to participate, and the operator provides all helmets and fuel.

Operated by Ela Quad Safari
Is this one for you?You ride the ATV yourself through the terrain—this is not a guided tour where you sit and watch—so it suits anyone who wants to handle the vehicle and navigate the mountain routes with the guide's support and instruction. The shared group format keeps the cost lower than a private quad safari, and the 3.5-hour length fits a half-day in your Crete itinerary without eating a full day.

Do I need to bring my own helmet?
No. Helmets are provided and included with the tour. You do need to bring a valid car driving license.
What's included in the price?
