The experience
You start from the old port in Corfu town and drive inland through the countryside to two traditional villages. In the first village, you sit in the square under a century-old tree with a local refreshment or coffee while the landscape settles around you. The route then turns toward the northwest coast, where you stop at a family-run olive oil distillery and museum. There you taste the oil and watch how it was made from harvest to pressing, the same way locals have done it for centuries.
The tour continues to an elevated viewpoint above Paleokastritsa, the island's most photographed spot: except you see it from above, where the entire northwest coastline opens up in front of you and you can see all the way to Paxos island. No crowds at this vantage point, just the geography laid out. From there you drive through Ropa valley to reach the oldest and most historical winery on the island. A guide walks you through the cellars stocked with thousands of bottles and pours two of their most prestigious wines.
The guide speaks English or Greek and the vehicle is air-conditioned. Children from age five are welcome. The tour runs four hours total, and you'll need to arrange your own transport to the old port in Corfu town where it begins, though the operator can help with that if you ask.
