Jump, abseil and zipline through a canyon of waterfalls

Canyoning and zipline activity at Polylimnio Waterfalls in the Peloponnese, where you jump and swim into natural pools, abseil from waterfalls including the largest one in the gorge, and fly 30 meters over a lake on cable. A professional guide in English or Greek leads the 4-hour experience and provides all gear. Children from age 8 are welcome, and none of the jumps or abseils is mandatory: a footpath runs the length of the canyon for anyone who wants to watch instead.

The experience

Polylimnio Waterfalls sits only a few kilometers from Kalamata in the Peloponnese and draws swimmers and hikers year-round. This canyoning activity puts you in the water and on the rock face itself. You meet your guide at the parking area, get fitted with a wetsuit, helmet and harness, and head into the gorge where the canyon narrows and the waterfalls begin. Along the way you jump into crystal-clear pools, swim between rock walls, and abseil down the face of waterfalls, including the biggest one in the canyon, where other visitors often gather to watch and applaud as you rappel past them.

The 30-meter zipline crosses one of the lakes and gives you a moment of pure speed before your guide catches you at the far side. Every jump, swim and abseil is optional. If the water is too cold or the height too much, the footpath that runs alongside the canyon lets you walk instead, so families and groups with mixed comfort levels can move together. Your guide holds a first aid certificate and stays with you throughout, calling out handholds and timing the descents so you stay safe and have fun at once.

The activity wraps at the end of the gorge near the car park with a picnic of snacks, giving you time to catch your breath and replay the moments you just lived. Your guide takes photographs throughout the day and sends them to you afterward. The whole experience runs about 4 hours from start to finish, and the transfer back to the parking area is included.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want to move through the canyon yourself (jumping, swimming and rappelling) rather than watching from the bank. The optional jumps and abseils mean mixed groups can go together, with less confident swimmers using the footpath while others take the water.
