From there the coast gets wilder. Varkiza's tavernas line the beach; you pass through it heading toward Cape Sounion itself. The Temple of Poseidon sits on the promontory, its white columns visible from the approach road. Built in the 5th century BC, it marked a vital landmark for ancient sailors and now it marks the end of the Riviera. The views of the Aegean stretch unbroken, and the light hits the stone differently depending on the hour—which is why a flexible schedule matters here.

On the way back or out, Legraina Beach is another optional stop: soft sand, clear water, and tavernas serving lunch with the sea in front of you. The whole loop takes five to six hours depending on how long you linger. The vehicle is modern, equipped with Wi-Fi and water, and only your group is on board. A licensed tour guide is available for an additional cost if you want the history narrated; otherwise the driver provides local knowledge. Drop-off is back at your hotel, the airport, or the port.
