The Experience

The first thing I noticed was the sound — that soft electric hum from my Segway as we wobbled out onto the street, trying not to look like total beginners. Our guide, Kostas, grinned at us (maybe a little too knowingly) and promised we’d get the hang of it before we hit the Parliament Building. He was right. I didn’t expect to feel so free rolling around the Temple of Olympian Zeus or along the edge of Panathinaikos Stadium (Kostas joked about racing us there — he would’ve won). Sometimes people waved or called out in Greek; one little kid even tried to chase us for a few meters before her mom pulled her back laughing. The whole day trip around Athens by Segway felt both fast and slow at once — you cover so much ground but still notice tiny things: stray cats darting across marble steps, sun bouncing off ancient columns. Honestly, I still think about that view back toward the Acropolis as we circled around for photos… kind of makes you want to linger just a bit longer.
