The experience

What do you see when the Acropolis is lit up at night? This tour starts in Thisseio, the neighborhood built around the Temple of Hephaestus, and moves through the city on electric bikes so you can cover more ground without the effort of a standard bike. You'll pass the Ancient Agora, Hadrian's Library and Hadrian's Arch, then ride through Plaka (the oldest and most picturesque neighborhood in Athens), where the streets narrow and the lit facades of old buildings line the route. The electric assist means the pace stays steady even when you're navigating through pedestrians on busier stretches, especially on weekends.

Two stops break up the ride: Pnyx Hill, where you'll have 15 minutes to take in the views and the history of the place where ancient Athenians gathered to debate democracy, and the Athens Presidential Mansion, where you'll watch the change of the guards for about 10 minutes. You'll also stop outside the Olympic Stadium (where the first modern Olympic Games were held) for pictures. The Odeon of Herodes Atticus appears on the route, though access inside depends on whether the Athenian festival is running at the time. The tour ends as full night falls, so bring an extra layer.
