Four hours is enough to move through the city without rushing. The tour starts by driving past Monkey Hill, a virgin forest in the centre of the metropolis where monkeys and birds live, and your guide explains the story behind it. From there you head to the Bisa Aberwa Museum, which holds over two thousand artefacts, sculptural pieces and photographs documenting the African Struggle and African American Civil Rights Movement.
The route then takes you through Sekondi's European Town to see the old colonial buildings (the High Court, commercial and residential structures), and Fort Orange, a 17th-century Dutch fort. Your guide walks you through the history of the fort and the old Railway Station. You drive past the Takoradi Market Circle and along John Mensah Sabah Road, the main commercial streets, before arriving at Bosomtwi Sam Fishing Harbour. There you watch the loading and unloading of fish, the mending of nets, the boat yard, and women buying and preparing the catch. The tour ends with the drive back to the port.
An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up and carries the group throughout. Your guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language depending on your choice at booking. All fees, taxes and guiding services are covered in the price.
