The experience

You meet your guide at the medieval Eigelstein gate near the central train station and hop on your bike from there. The route takes you north through the Agnes neighborhood and its lush Green Belt parks, then crosses the Rhine via the Hohenzollern Bridge, where you'll see the thousands of padlocks couples have left as symbols of eternal love. From the bridge's eastern steps, you get a panoramic view back across the old city and the Cathedral rising behind it.

The Cathedral itself anchors the second half of the ride. Your guide walks you through its Gothic construction and 2,000-year history before you cycle into the Old Town proper, passing the Old Market with its City Hall, the Fish Market and the narrow Salzgasse lined with breweries. The route ends at the Crane Houses in the former industrial port: a modern riverside development worth a photo. Throughout, you move at a relaxed pace on a route designed to fit the city's highlights into one morning or afternoon without rushing.

Bikes and helmets come with the tour. Rain ponchos are provided if the weather turns. E-bikes are available to upgrade on site depending on availability. Children need an adult with them, and trailers or child seats can be arranged if you mention it when booking. Comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing make the ride easier, though the tour suits all fitness levels at a moderate speed.
