The experience
The tour picks you up at Warnemünde and drives to Berlin with a guide who has spent more than 25 years leading groups through the capital's WWII sites. The day moves through the city in a private air-conditioned vehicle, stopping at landmarks tied to the Nazi rise to power, the regime's crimes, and the final collapse. You'll see the Reichstag, where Hitler came to power in 1933, and stand at the site of the Führerbunker, where he took his own life in 1945 as the war ended.
The guide walks you through memorials dedicated to different victim groups: Jewish people, Sinti and Roma, homosexual victims, and those killed in the Nazi euthanasia program. You'll visit the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and walk through its design; see the Topography of Terror exhibition, which documents the crimes of the Nazi secret police; and learn about Otto Weidt, a Berlin businessman who hid and saved Jewish workers during the occupation. The Soviet War Memorial in the Tiergarten, built so deliberately that it ended up in West Berlin, gets its own explanation of Cold War geography and Soviet strategy.
Other stops include the Brandenburg Gate, where Hitler's supporters marched in 1933 to celebrate him becoming chancellor; the Berlin Victory Column; and a walk through the former Nazi government district, where you'll see the locations of Goebbels' Propaganda Ministry, Goering's Air Ministry, and the New Reich Chancellery. The guide covers the failed assassination attempt on Hitler by Klaus von Stauffenberg, the book burnings of 1933, and Hitler's final ten days in the bunker. At the end of the day, the driver returns you to the port.

Top questions
What exactly is the Führerbunker and what will I see there?
The Führerbunker is the underground bunker where Hitler spent his final days and took his own life in 1945. You'll visit the former site, now marked and explained by your guide, who covers Hitler's life and the final ten days of the war in detail.
Does the tour include entry to museums or exhibitions?
The Topography of Terror is an open-air exhibition you'll visit, and time there depends on how long your group wants to spend. The Museum of Otto Weidt's Workshop for the Blind is included as a stop where the guide explains Weidt's courageous actions saving Jewish lives during the occupation.
How long is the drive from Warnemünde to Berlin?
The tour runs for 11 hours total, which includes the drive to Berlin, all stops and explanations, and the return to the port. The guide and driver manage the full day so you don't arrange transportation separately.
Will I walk much during this tour?
Yes, you'll walk through several memorials and sites, including a walk through the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the former Nazi government district. The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, and the vehicle is wheelchair accessible with accessible areas and surfaces at the sites.
What makes the Soviet War Memorial in the Tiergarten historically significant?
The Soviet War Memorial was built deliberately so that it would end up in West Berlin after the city was divided during the Cold War: an unusual outcome that your guide will explain as part of the day's history.
