Cologne Kiosk Crawl: Local Beer Stops & Games
Drink local beers at six stops and compete for nightly prizes across Cologne's student quarter
The Cologne Kiosk Crawl is a guided evening activity where you move between six neighbourhood kiosks, ordering drinks at each stop and mingling with locals and other travellers. A live English-speaking guide leads the group through one of the city's most popular student areas over 2–3 hours, including a round of local Schnapps and games at each location. You pay for your own drinks (typically €2–3 each) in cash, and winners of the nightly competitions take home prizes.

The experience
This is not a bar-to-bar crawl in the traditional sense. Instead of hitting established venues, you'll stop at kiosks: small outdoor drink stands that are central to how Cologne's students and locals spend their summer nights. The guide meets your group and takes you through the neighbourhood, stopping at six different kiosks where you order and pay for your own drinks. Kölsch, the local beer style, is the standard order, and you'll also get a round of Schnapps included as part of the experience. The whole thing is built around meeting people: you'll mingle with locals, get to know other travellers in your group, and play games at each stop.
The evening unfolds across the student quarter, moving from one kiosk to the next with time to drink, chat and compete. One stop includes street food and games outside a popular bar. Another takes you to a park where the guide points out preferred beer gardens in the area. By the final stop, as the sun sets, you're in one of Cologne's busiest student zones, finishing off beers and announcing the night's prize winners. Bring cash, kiosks don't always take cards, and expect to spend €2–3 per drink on top of what's included.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What exactly is a kiosk in Cologne, and why do locals go there?
Kiosks are small outdoor drink stands that are a core part of Cologne's nightlife culture, especially among students. They're casual, social spots where people grab cheap local beers and Schnapps, often staying to chat and play games rather than moving inside to a bar. The crawl takes you to six of these neighbourhood favourites.
Do I need to speak German, or is the guide in English?
The guide leads the entire crawl in English, so you don't need any German. You'll pick up the local names for drinks and spots as the night goes on, but everything is explained in English.
How much will I spend on drinks during the crawl?
Drinks at kiosks cost between €2 and €3 on average, and you pay for each one as you order. The Schnapps round and any prizes are included, but all other drinks come out of your pocket. Bring cash, as most kiosks don't accept cards.
What happens if I don't want to drink alcohol, or I want to drink less?
You're welcome to order non-alcoholic drinks or skip rounds. There's no requirement to match the group. The games and socialising are the main draw, and the guide will make sure you're included either way.
Is this crawl suitable if I'm visiting Cologne alone?
Yes. The whole point is meeting locals and other travellers, so solo visitors are common and the group dynamic is built around that. You'll be introduced to the other people on the crawl and encouraged to mingle at every stop.
