The experience
Day one starts with a 7 AM pickup and drive to Kairoh Garden Lodge in Kuntaur. After lunch, you board a boat for a 3-hour river safari through River Gambia National Park, where the Baboon Islands and Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project sit. The boat drifts past hippos, crocodiles, and wild birds in their natural habitat. Dinner comes with views of the Gambia River. An optional 10 km sunset bike ride to a traditional village is available if you want to keep moving after the boat returns.
Day two is built around cycling. You start with breakfast at 7 AM, then ride through a baobab forest to deeply rural villages, returning by noon to avoid the afternoon heat. After lunch, you visit the Stone Circles (a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of West Africa's most significant ancient megalithic sites), and tour the museum. The evening is free at the lodge to rest.
Day three is the return. An early morning drive gets you back to your hotel or requested drop-off location in time for lunch, ending the tour without eating into the rest of your day.
