The experience
Whales migrate to Polynesia's warm waters to breed and raise their calves, and this tour puts you in the water to watch them do it. An instructor guides the group through the encounter, teaching you how to move around the animals without startling or stressing them: the difference between a moment they tolerate and one they avoid. You'll use snorkeling gear to stay in the water comfortably while keeping a safe distance and a quiet approach.
The activity runs about 3.5 hours total. The instructor speaks English or French and stays with the group throughout, positioning you where the whales are most likely to pass and signaling when to hold still or move slowly. Children from age 8 can join, though the tour is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy.
What’s included

Is this one for you?Book this tour if you have a free morning or afternoon and want to enter the water itself rather than watch from the boat. The close-range swimming approach is what makes the encounter possible, and it requires comfort in the ocean and the ability to follow the instructor's quiet, deliberate movements around the animals.
