The experience

Eight hours is what it takes to cross from the coast into the heart of Tahiti. The 4WD vehicle leaves your hotel and heads toward the Papenoo Valley, climbing into rainforest so dense that most of the island stays hidden from standard roads. You'll cross rivers, stop at waterfalls, and walk through vegetation that has barely changed since the island was settled. The main crater sits at the heart of the route. From there, the panorama of the valley opens up, and this is where the tour pauses for lunch (at your own cost).
