Step-by-step itinerary
Moorea catamaran sailing and snorkeling

- Explore coral garden near Tiahura's motus
- Search for sea turtles and Tikis statues
- Have local tuna salad lunch

The experience
The catamaran Taboo is yours alone for the day, which means the itinerary bends to what you want to do. You sail the north coast of Moorea inside and outside the barrier reef, taking in the panoramic view of the island's mountains. When you're ready to enter the water, you snorkel a coral garden between Tiahura's motus: small islands where the reef opens into shallow, clear lagoon. Stingrays and black-tip sharks move through the same water. Tropical fish school around the coral. The boat carries you to spots where sea turtles surface, and you'll look for the Tikis, traditional Polynesian statues carved into the seafloor.
How much time you spend in the water versus sailing is yours to decide. If Opunohu bay appeals to you, or if you want to spend the afternoon on something else entirely, tell the crew and they'll adapt the route within their safety conditions. Lunch arrives as a local specialty (fresh raw tuna salad with coconut milk and rice), though you're welcome to bring your own. The day includes snorkeling equipment, tropical fruits, a Maitai cocktail, and fresh juices.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and French.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of sea life will I actually see while snorkeling in Moorea?
Stingrays and black-tip sharks are regular sightings in the lagoon, along with schools of tropical fish. Sea turtles surface in certain spots the crew knows, and you'll snorkel a coral garden where the reef structure itself is part of what you're exploring.
Can I choose how much time to spend snorkeling versus sailing?
Yes. The catamaran is private to your group, so you tell the crew how you want to split the day between time in the water and time under sail. They'll adjust the route to match your preference and the conditions.
Does the boat visit Opunohu bay, or is it only the north coast?
The standard route covers the north coast inside and outside the barrier reef. Opunohu bay is an option you can request when you book, and the crew will work it in if conditions allow.
What's included in the lunch, and can I bring my own food instead?
Lunch is a fresh raw tuna salad with coconut milk and rice, a local dish. If you prefer to bring your own lunch, let the operator know when you book and they'll accommodate it.
How long is the full day, and what time does it start?
The snorkeling day runs 6.5 hours. You can choose a morning departure or a midday-to-sunset option, depending on which fits your schedule in Moorea.
