The Experience

I’ll never forget how our guide, Manu, grinned as he handed me the sea scooter for the first time. “Just squeeze here and let it pull you,” he said, like it was no big deal. I’d snorkeled before but never with one of these — it felt a bit like cheating, honestly, but in a fun way. The water at Temae Beach was so clear I could see flashes of yellow and blue even before we started moving. There was bottled water waiting for us back on shore, which sounds minor but after an hour in the salt and sun it tasted better than any fancy drink. We didn’t talk much on the ride back — everyone just sort of stared out at the lagoon or scrolled through photos quietly.
