The experience
What makes this different from a full certification course is the pace: you get two dives on two separate sites instead of classroom time, so you're in the water fast and learning by doing. The guide stays with you the whole time, showing you how to breathe underwater, move through the water and handle the gear before you descend. The lagoon and ocean sites around Tahiti stay warm and clear year-round, so visibility is usually good and the fish are used to divers.
An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel and brings you to the dive site, so you don't arrange transport yourself. Once there, the operator provides all the SCUBA equipment you need, plus fresh water, tea, coffee and chocolate between dives. The group stays small, which means the guide can watch each person closely and adjust the pace if someone needs more time to get comfortable underwater. You'll spend roughly 4 hours total, though most of that is in or near the water.
The activity suits anyone from age 5 upward, and the operator says it's suitable for all fitness levels. If you've done even one dive in the past six months, you're ready to go. If not, this is still your entry point. The only real constraint is that it's not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns, since diving does put physical demands on your heart and lungs.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and French.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 17 years); Child (9 to 12 years); Infant (5 to 8 years). Under 5: they can't be included in the booking.
Can I do this dive if I've never been underwater before?
Yes. The Discovery Program is built for people with no diving experience. You learn the basics (how to breathe, equalize pressure, move through the water) with the guide right there, and then you do two dives to practice what you've learned. A single dive in the last six months qualifies you. If you've never dived at all, you're still welcome.
What's included in the 4 hours, and what do I need to bring?
Hotel pickup, all SCUBA equipment, fresh water, tea, coffee and chocolate are included. You bring a swimsuit, towel and any personal items you need. The operator provides everything else for diving. The 4 hours covers transport, gearing up, both dives and time between them.
How many people dive together, and is the guide with me the whole time?
You dive in a small group, and a live guide in English or French stays with you throughout both dives. The small size means the guide can watch each person closely and adjust the pace if you need extra time to get comfortable.
What are the two dive sites like in Tahiti?
The two dives happen on two different sites in the lagoon and ocean around Tahiti. The waters are limpid and temperate, so visibility is usually good and the marine life is abundant. The guide chooses sites suited to the group's level and the conditions on the day.
Is this activity accessible if I use a wheelchair or have mobility concerns?
The operator states that all areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible and that transportation options are wheelchair accessible. If you have specific mobility needs, contact the operator before booking to confirm the dive site setup on the day.
