The experience
You start at a central Marseille meeting point and travel 45 minutes to Bandol in a comfortable minivan with your wine expert guide, who shares stories about the region's winemaking heritage as you pass through Provence's rolling landscapes. The morning focuses on Bandol's renowned red wines: you visit two established wineries, learn the process from vine to bottle, and taste a curated selection of reds, rosés, and whites with guidance on how to develop your palate.
After the wineries, you have free time in Cassis, a small fishing village tucked between dramatic cliffs and the Mediterranean. Your guide recommends restaurants along the harbor where you can order lunch on your own: fresh seafood, local specialties, or a glass of Cassis white wine are the typical choices. The afternoon brings a third tasting at a vineyard in Cassis, where you explore the winemaking behind the region's celebrated white and rosé wines, known for their freshness and coastal character. Weather permitting, you then stop at Cap Canaille, one of Europe's highest sea cliffs, for photographs of the red rock face and the coastline below.
The full day runs about 7.5 hours from pickup to return. Alcoholic beverages, all tasting fees, transportation, and the guide are included. You pay separately for lunch and drinks outside the tastings. The minivan seats up to eight passengers, so families or small groups travel together. An English-speaking guide leads the tour. French-language departures also run.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and French.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (10 to 17 years). Under 10: they can't be included in the booking.
What's the difference between the Bandol and Cassis wines I'll taste?
Bandol is known for its full-bodied red wines made from the Mourvèdre grape, considered some of Provence's best reds, along with delicate rosés and whites. Cassis, by contrast, specializes in fresh, aromatic white wines and rosés that pair with seafood and reflect the coastal terroir between the cliffs and Mediterranean.
Is lunch included, or do I pay for it in Cassis?
Lunch is not included. During your free time in Cassis, you choose and pay for your meal at one of the waterfront restaurants or cafés. Your guide will recommend the best spots based on what you're in the mood for.
Can I book this tour if I'm arriving on a cruise ship in Marseille?
This tour departs from central Marseille, which is about 20 minutes by taxi from the cruise port. Provence Wine Tours offers a separate shore excursion product timed to cruise schedules. Check that listing if you're arriving by ship.
How much walking is involved during the vineyard visits?
The itinerary includes exploration of the vineyards and time on your feet at Cap Canaille for photos, but no strenuous hiking. The tour is suitable for all fitness levels, though you'll want comfortable walking shoes and sun protection.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my tour?
The tour operates in all weather conditions. Cap Canaille photos depend on weather, so if conditions are poor, that stop may be shortened or skipped. The rest of the day (the vineyard visits and Cassis) proceeds as planned. Dress appropriately and bring a water bottle.
