The experience
La Ciotat's via cordata du Trou Souffleur strings together climbing, rappelling, zip lines and aerial walkways across the pudding cliffs that rise from the water. The route takes three hours and mixes easy scrambling with short roped pitches, so you're never just walking. You're using your hands and feet to move through the rock. State-certified instructors manage the rope systems and talk you through each section, which means you spend the time actually climbing and moving rather than waiting for someone to explain the gear.
The zip lines cross above the water, and the rappels drop you down sections where the cliff face is steeper. You'll move through aerial passages (sections where you're clipped to a cable and stepping across open air), which is where the route earns its reputation for thrills. The panoramas of the Mediterranean sit underneath the whole thing, but the focus stays on the movement: what your hands grip, where your feet land, how the rope system works. Beginners and curious climbers both do this route. The difficulty sits at easy to moderate, and the physical demand is real but not extreme.
Guides speak English and French, and children from age 7 onward join the groups. All climbing equipment (harnesses, ropes, carabiners) comes with the booking. You'll want to bring water and a light snack, wear sportswear that lets you move, and dress for the weather on the coast.

Is this one for you?Small mixed-age groups work best here because the instructors can pace the route to beginners and children without slowing experienced climbers. If you're going solo or with one other person, you'll join a group of up to a dozen. If you want a private group, book separately with the operator.
