The experience
The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive in an air-conditioned vehicle to Château Saint Martin, a property rated Cru Classé since 1955. The estate sits on a plateau that overlooks the Argens valley, and the 18th-century château still has a Countess in residence. You'll walk the cellars and winery with your guide, who explains the terroir, the appellations and over 2,000 years of winemaking history in Provence. The masterclass in wine tasting happens here, where you'll also learn how to pair food and wine: knowledge that carries through the rest of the day.
From there you move to a second vineyard, an organic estate where the owner and his team have built a reputation for respecting the environment while producing medal-winning vintages. The cellar here is one of the most remarkable in Provence, and you'll have time to walk the vines and take in the views before tasting more wines from the property. The third stop is a family-owned estate where modernity meets tradition, with an extensive range of wines and a focus on the finer points of winemaking. Across all three vineyards, you'll taste around 15 different wines: reds full of power and intensity, whites of great delicacy and finesse, and some of the most sophisticated rosés available anywhere.
Your guide speaks English or French and stays with you throughout the day. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and bottled water is provided. Lunch is not part of the tour, but you can eat at one of the vineyards or in a local medieval Provençal village. Budget around 25 to 30 euros per person if you choose to eat. The day ends with drop-off at your hotel.
