Medieval Saint Paul & wine tasting from Nice: Private tour
Wander a hilltop village that painters made famous, then taste wines made nowhere else
A private tour from Nice to Saint Paul de Vence, the fortified medieval village that drew Matisse, Chagall and Duffy, with hotel pickup and an air-conditioned minivan ride. You walk the ramparts and narrow streets at your own pace, see the art galleries and small museums, then stop at a family vineyard on the hills above Nice to taste three organic wines produced and sold only in that region.
The experience
You get picked up from your hotel in Nice and driven to Saint Paul de Vence in a private minivan with your guide. The village itself is tiny (you can cross it in minutes), but the ramparts, the architecture, the galleries and the famous cemetery reward hours of wandering. Matisse, Chagall and Duffy all fell in love with this place, and it became the retreat for celebrities after the film studios opened in Nice and the Cannes festival launched. Today it reads as an open-air museum, and you move through it on your own schedule while your guide waits.
On the way back to Nice, you stop at a family Domaine in the hills to taste three organic wines. The vineyard changes its selection by season and stock (two or three colors depending on what is ready), and these wines are produced and sold only in Nice. If the regular Domaine de la Source is not available that day, your guide takes you to another family vineyard like Domaine du Toasc instead. Bottled water is included, and your driver brings you back to your hotel when you are done.

What is Saint Paul de Vence actually like to walk through?
Saint Paul de Vence is a fortified medieval village perched on a hilltop with views toward the Mediterranean. The streets are narrow, the houses are old, and the ramparts run around the edge. Can I choose which vineyard I visit?
Your guide takes you to Domaine de la Source, a family vineyard on the hills above Nice. If that vineyard is not available on your tour date, you will visit another family vineyard like Domaine du Toasc instead. Both produce organic wines sold only in the Nice region.
