The experience

Pastré park spreads over several hectares of Aleppo pines, oaks, laurels and thyme: the starting point for a climb that builds steadily through natural terrain. The ascent to the ridge at the top of the cross is not technical, though you'll use your hands on the steeper pitches. Once there, the panorama opens: the Phocaean city below, the bay, the Friuli archipelago and the island of Riou all visible at once. This is where you stop to eat and take in the view.

The descent reverses the climb but takes a different line, dropping through flaws where exposed passages demand your full attention before the terrain eases. Vegetation shifts as you lose elevation, and caves appear in the rock face. The route brings you above Callelongue (a moment to see the calanques from the ridge) before the final walk down to Goudes, where the day ends at the water's edge.
