The experience

The tasting happens first, guided by a sommelier who pours five wines from the estate. You learn what makes Châteauneuf-du-Pape distinctive (the terroir, the blend, the aging), while the wines themselves sit in front of you. Then you move into the museum, a 500-square-meter space built in 1972 by Jeanne Brotte, the family's grandmother, and still the only museum in the appellation dedicated to this single story.

The audioguide is the real architecture here. You choose your language (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, or five others), and move through displays about the vines themselves, how wine gets made, and how the Brotte family has been doing it since 1931. The museum is contemporary and warm, not a dusty archive. The point is to understand what you just tasted, not to memorize dates.
