The experience

The tour picks you up and drives into the ouest plateau of Nice, where the Bellet protected area sits. Château de Crémat, one of the oldest and most famous wineries in the region, is the first stop: a large estate with gardens, grapevines and a cellar you walk through. You taste three wines there: organic rosé, red and white. The second vineyard is either Château de Bellet, a mid-size producer on the hill known for rosé, or another family winery in the same zone, depending on the day's schedule. At both stops you also taste local specialties: olive oil, olive paste, fruity marmalade and other Provence bites.

The drive includes a stop at the Promenade des Anglais, Nice's famous waterfront with its blue seats, so you see the city's coast before heading back. The whole outing runs four hours in an air-conditioned vehicle with a guide who speaks English, French or both. Groups are small, no more than 14 people, which means you move at a pace that lets you ask questions and linger in the cellars if you want to.
