Nearly 200 kilometers above the Arctic Circle, Lainio SnowVillage is rebuilt each year from around 20 million kilos of snow and 350,000 kilos of natural ice. The village changes shape and design annually, so the sculptures, room layouts and installations are never the same twice. Your driver-guide meets you and leads you through the complex on foot, pointing out the ice chapel (where roughly 50 couples exchange vows during the winter season), the decorated snow suites with their carved details, and the ice lounge displaying artwork carved directly into the walls.

The tour includes time in the ice bar, where you get a shot of glögi, a warm Scandinavian mulled wine, served in a glass made of ice. You'll also see the ice slide and other activities set up around the village, though the focus is on the architecture and sculptures rather than participation. The air-conditioned vehicle waits for you between stops, and the whole experience runs three hours from pickup to return.
