You operate the ATV across open fells and forest trails, discovering remote Lapland at your own pace.

ATV riding in Saariselkä puts you behind the handlebars of your own machine for approximately three hours, crossing tundra, forests and rolling fells in Lapland's wilderness. The activity includes a safety briefing, hotel pickup, helmet and adventure gear, hot beverages during a break, and a live English-speaking guide. You can choose to ride solo or share an ATV with another person, and a valid driving license is required for the operator.

The experience

You start with a professional safety briefing to get comfortable with the ATV before heading into the landscape. Then you ride through quiet Arctic forests and out onto the open tundra, where the terrain shifts constantly: forest trails give way to rolling fells and wide northern views. The whole outing lasts about three hours, with roughly one hour of actual riding time, so the pace lets you take in the surroundings instead of racing through them. There's a real chance to spot local wildlife while you're out there, and the guide knows where to look.

The terrain itself is the point: varied enough that every section feels different, from sheltered forest to exposed fell landscape with sweeping views across the wilderness. This is the side of Lapland most visitors don't reach: peaceful, untouched, far from the usual roads. You're not watching from a vehicle. You're navigating it yourself, which changes how the landscape feels.

A break partway through gives you time to rest and drink something hot before heading back. Hotel pickup and return transfers are included, so you don't need to arrange transport to the starting point. Helmets and adventure gear come with the booking. The activity suits both beginners and experienced riders, though you do need a valid driving license if you're the one operating the ATV.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (12 to 14 years). Children under 12 can't be included in the booking.

Approximately one hour of active riding across the three-hour outing. The rest includes the safety briefing, breaks, and the time spent taking in the landscape and spotting wildlife.

What happens if I want to ride alone instead of sharing an ATV?

Saariselkä's tundra is open fell country with rolling hills, Arctic forests, rivers and ponds. You'll ride through both sheltered forest trails and exposed high ground with views across the wilderness. It's remote and peaceful, with a real chance to see local wildlife.
