The experience
This is a full-distance Arctic ride, not a scenic loop. After a safety briefing, you take the snowmobile across winding forest tracks, open marshlands and sweeping fell areas: terrain that demands confident handling and rewards it with deeper wilderness. The guide leads the way. You follow the route they choose based on conditions, covering greater distances than the standard safari routes. Every kilometer pushes the landscape further from the settlements, and the silence between engine sounds grows heavier.
Approximately three hours of riding brings you to an open fire in the middle of nowhere. You stop there for a light lunch and hot beverages: a real break in the rhythm of the day, not a photo stop. The fire is the only warmth for kilometers in any direction. After you eat and the cold settles back in, you ride again, retracing or extending the route depending on daylight and conditions. The whole day runs six hours from pickup to return.
Winter adventure gear and a helmet are provided. You bring the fitness and the nerve. This safari is adults-only and designed for riders who have handled a snowmobile before and want something harder than the beginner routes. Vegetarian lunch is available if you request it when you book. Pickup is included. If you need a transfer from Ivalo, that costs extra and must be arranged separately.
