itinerary

Step-by-step itinerary

Day 1 — ATV ride and zip line adventure

  • Safety briefing and test drive
  • Pass biggest Hindu Temple
  • Splash mud, ride pine forest
  • Snack on mountain plateau
  • Ride on the beach
  • Zipline over caves and rainforest

You know that sharp hum when an engine kicks in? That’s how our day started outside Nadi, helmets on, dust already settling in the air. I fumbled a bit with the visor—never been much of a gear person—but our guide Ratu just grinned and said, “No worries, you’ll get it.” We rolled out past the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, its colors somehow brighter against the morning haze. I tried to snap a photo but honestly, my hands were too busy gripping the handlebars.

The quad bike tour took us off-road pretty quick—cane fields whipping by, then suddenly we were splashing through mud puddles (my shoes never stood a chance). The climb up into the Nakala Mountains was steeper than I expected. Pine needles under the tires made this soft crunching sound. There was this moment where we stopped on a plateau and you could see all the way to the Mamanuca Islands—clouds drifting low, everything quiet except for someone unwrapping snacks. I still think about that view sometimes; it didn’t feel real.

After winding back down through town (kids waving as we passed), we hit a local beach for a quick breather—sand sticking everywhere but nobody cared. Then came the switch: harnesses on for ziplining. Sixteen lines over caves and forest canyons—my legs shook at first but after the second jump, it was just wind and laughter echoing between trees. Ratu kept calling out encouragements from below; he must’ve done this hundreds of times but acted like every run was new. By the end, I was sweaty and tired in that good way you only get from being outside all day.
