The experience
The tour departs from Nadi or Denarau with hotel pickup and runs through the morning, stopping first at Lawai Pottery Village. There you'll take part in a traditional kava ceremony, watch skilled artisans at work on intricate pottery pieces, and join in a Fijian meke dance. The pottery shops and galleries on-site let you browse functional pieces and decorative sculptures at your own pace.
From there the route moves to Sigatoka, known as the Salad Bowl of Fiji for its abundance of fruits and vegetables. At the market you can bargain with local vendors, chat about what they're selling, and pick up produce or anything else that catches your eye. The stop also includes the Shri Radha Krishna Temple, whose vibrant colors and architecture create a quiet space to step into, and Tappoo Shop, where you can browse woven mats and hand-carved wooden artifacts that showcase Fijian craftsmanship. Lunch is available at your own cost at the shop.
The final stop is the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, located where the Sigatoka River meets the coast. Your guide walks you through the history and ecosystem of the dunes before the drive back to your hotel. The whole experience is built around a small group (a minimum of two people per booking) traveling in an air-conditioned vehicle with one guide who speaks English throughout.
