The experience
Wetley Moor Alpacas runs this as a hands-on Christmas event where you spend time in the arena meeting and feeding the alpacas and donkeys directly. A guide in English walks you through the activities and keeps the day moving. You'll have a chance to get up close with the animals and capture a family photo with them in their festive setup: the kind of shot that ends up on the mantelpiece. The undercover seating area means you're not exposed to the weather while you're between activities, and food and drinks are available on site.
The activities themselves are built around what kids actually do rather than just watch. You paint alpaca and Christmas decorations, write letters to Santa, and then meet him in his own grotto with his reinpaccas. A detail that makes the setup feel complete rather than tacked on. The petting shed gives you access to bunnies and guinea pigs alongside the alpacas. If you want to add mini treks around the moor with the alpacas and donkeys, you can book those separately for an extra cost.
