Sicilian Wine Tasting Dinner in Manchester: Learn Pairing
Taste four Sicilian wines and learn why they pair with each dish
A 90-minute wine tasting dinner in Manchester led by a sommelier who teaches the background of Sicilian wine—the grapes, terroir, and regional styles—then walks you through assessing quality and the principles of food pairing. You taste two red and two white wines, each paired with a specially chosen dish, and finish with dessert and liqueur; vegetarian and vegan options are available.
The Experience
The evening starts with a glass of Prosecco and an aperitivo, then the sommelier introduces the story of Sicilian winemaking—what makes the region distinct, which grapes define it, and how the land shapes the wine itself. Most Sicilian wines are overlooked despite centuries of production, and the class aims to change that by connecting the label to the place it comes from.
From there, you taste four wines—two reds and two whites—each one presented alongside a dish designed to show how food and wine work together. The sommelier explains what to look for when you assess a wine: how age affects it, what quality means, and the reasoning behind each pairing. You're learning by tasting, not by lecture, so the concepts stick because you experience them in the glass and on the plate.
The class wraps with dessert paired with a classic shot of limoncello, and time to share what you noticed and what surprised you. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are available if you let the operator know when you book.
